WorkShop 1:  Acting from the Heart – Richard Hatch
$25              120 minutes Saturday

Golden Globe nominated actor, teacher and director Richard Hatch teaches the art of acting, improvisation, and role playing in this fun, insightful and empowering workshop.   You’ll learn the secrets to performing, overcoming fear and living a more successful and meaningful life. 

WorkShop 2:  Dialogue – Scott Sandridge
$35             75 minutes Saturday

This workshop by author Scott Sandrigde will focus on aspects of dialogue like creating a character's "voice", different ways to show speaking and thought dialogues, and ways to handle accents without resortin' ta manglin' up that thar spellin'.

WorkShop 3:  Writing Your Steampunk Persona – Emilie P. Bush
$10             75 minutes Saturday

Steampunk author Emilie P. Bush brings costuming and literature together in this workshop and helps writers find out how their Steampunk selves should look. What's your alter-ego's back story? Why do they look and behave the way they do. Folks may not leave with a finished story, but they will have the bones of a persona and the worksheets to dicker with further.

WorkShop 4:  Brainstorming with Tarot (A Workshop for Writers) – Casey Daniels
$20             75 minutes Saturday

You don't have to be psychic to tap into the amazing symbolism of tarot.  The cards pack a powerful wallop when it comes to brainstorming for plot and characterization.  Paint your hero in a corner?  Pull a tarot cards and instantly find dozens of possibilities, plot points, and problems.  Don't understand your villain?  A tarot reading provides insights that can lead to new challenges and conflicts.  This is an hour-an-a-half, interactive workshop.  Come prepared to shout out answers, offer opinions and brainstorm away!

WorkShop 5:  Creating Compelling Characters – Casey Daniels
$10              75 minutes Friday

Nothing draws a reader into a story more than compelling characters. But often, writers use their characters only as the cardboard cutouts who inhabit their story.  Learn easy techniques for bringing your characters to life and making your readers care about them.

Attendance and participation at Marcon constitutes permission to be included in video taping to be used for the promotional purposes of the Marcon Science fiction convention.To ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for all attendees, MARCON reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership from any persons who have engaged in disorderly, disruptive, unlawful or unsafe behavior. As was stated above there is a $2.00 Online processing and convenience fee that will be added to your total of all online orders. The $2.00 processing fee is not refundable.
