Welcome to an experiment. I'm going to try to put
together a virtual tour of the Hyatt so that those of you that haven't been to
Marcon can see some of the areas where it takes place. And for those of you that
have been, you can think back fondly. (Click images to enlarge)
Is this
the right place? By Times Writer
| Arriving
at the Hyatt can be a little different this year, as there are some new parking
rules. | Over-sized vehicles (vans or other
larger vehicles) will no longer be able to be parked by hotel valet; they don't
fit in the garage. You can still pull up to the hotel and unload normally, but
then you will have to take your large vehicles to one of the outside lots. They
won't allow them to be parked on the street in front of the Hyatt either. Hint:
The East lot is the closest.
| Here you see the lobby and reception desk at the Hyatt.
Don't get use to seeing | |
it this empty, it rarely is during Marcon. Remember that
during Marcon there are thousands of people checking in/out, asking questions,
or just milling about in the lobby so please try to be courteous to everyone.
Once you get checked in and settled you'll be wanting to go to registration.
Registration can be easily reached by taking the escalators from the lobby up
to the second floor.
| This
is where you will find The Big Bar on 2. This is the Hyatt's bar. |
Once again, WOW it looks empty. At the top of the escalators
you will go through the glass doors on your left. Continue going forward until
you reach the
| escalators going down and the balcony that overlooks
the Food Court. | |
| | | |
| Here
you should turn left and go past the phones to this set of double doors.
This is the registration room. If you are buying your memberships
at the door this is where you should go.
| If
you've Pre-Registered, this years New-and-improved process will be out here in
the hall. | This year, not only have we
revamped our whole reg and pre-reg process, but we are planning on having some
sort of entertainment out here in the main hallway. Not sure yet what it will
be, but it should make what short time you're here pass quickly.
| Once you look past the Pre-reg station you will see all
the doors for the Franklin rooms.
These rooms have all been opened up and made into one big
room, like we use to for the masquerade and dances. This is where the Dealers
room is this year. Also lining down the left side of this hall will be where we
are putting our special Guests tables.
| Ok,
some other point of interest will be the Regency room. This is where the Dealers
room has been the last | few years. This
year we will be using this newly renovated room for our larger events and panels,
such as the Masquerade and dances, the Human Chess match, and concerts.
| The next place I will point out is the ConSuite. It is
located off the lobby, behind the
bellman's station. Many of you have been to Marcon
before and know that the ConSuite is the social area of the convention where you
are invited to bring your friends, your music, cards, games, etc., and socialize
without the hassle of yelling over too many people. We have a wide variety of
foods to offer as well as drink.
This
a panaramic view of where the food will be.
