for the fun of it!!
Marcon Party Policies
1. You must comply with all state and local laws during your party.
Pay specific attention to those regarding the possession, consumption and storage
of alcohol. 2. If you are serving alcohol at your party, it is your responsibility
as host/bartender to ensure that all guests consuming alcohol at your party are
of legal drinking age. A Marcon badge - including a Staff badge - is not proof
of age under any circumstances. 3. All party organizers must be badged members
of the Marcon Convention. All party organizers and guests shall wear their Marcon
name badges in plain view. 4. At least one of the party organizers must be
in the room/suite at all times while the party is in progress. 5. These policies
and safety considerations must be visibly posted in the room/suite at all times
while the party is in progress. Marcon
Party Safety Considerations Hotel
Considerations: 1. Maintain a manageable
number of people in your room at all times during party hours. 2. The suite
or room you are using is not your property. Treat the hotel property with respect.
Be aware that we are all in this together, and that any damage caused by one party
reflects badly on all parties and on the convention itself. 3. You are responsible
and financially liable for any and all damages occurring to hotel property
in the room/suite in which your party is held. We advise you to do a thorough
inspection of the room before your party to identify any existing damage. If any
is found, report it to the Hotel staff immediately. 4. Display panels will
be available in designated areas throughout convention space for the posting of
party flyers and other information. You are responsible and financially liable
for all damages to hotel property as a result of postings advertising your party.
5. Make every effort to discourage loitering in the hallways. It is imperative
that traffic flow be maintained in the hallways. Also, do your best to keep the
hallway near your party free of trash. 6. Do not allow anyone to carry alcoholic
beverages when leaving your room party. Alcohol is not allowed in the halls, and
alcohol must not be transported to, from, or between room parties. 7. Report
any medical emergencies to the hotel front desk immediately, and then contact
Marcon Operations. Convention
Considerations: 1. Immediately report any problems
beyond your control (i.e., overflowing toilets, sink taps that don't work, etc.)
to Marcon Operations. Specify if security staff is needed (e.g., a drunk, belligerent
fan not wanting to leave your party, overcrowding in the corridor, etc.). 2.
You know what is illegal. You know what will put you in jail. DON'T DO IT! If
you have questions, please contact Marcon Operations. 3. If it has been determined
by the convention Chair or Marcon Security that your party is in violation, you
may be given the opportunity to correct the problems or be shut down. 4. Once
you've been given an opportunity to correct reported violations, if any further
violations occur you may be immediately shut down. Marcon
Party Categories Once again this year the fans will
judge Marcon's room parties. Party judging ballots will be given to attendees
at registration. The ballots will be collected in a box that will be placed in
the consuite. All ballots will be due by Sunday morning at 10 a.m. and
the winning parties will be announced Sunday afternoon in the "Marconey Times"
and at the Con Wrap-Up Meeting. A special award will be given to the group
throwing the best party representing Marcon 41's theme, "The Roddenberry
Universe." The other categories will include: Best
Friday Party Best Saturday Party Best Overall Party Best Visual Display In
addition, the Guests of Honor will be given special ballots and a "Guests'
Choice" Award will be presented. Keep in mind that a good party serves a
variety of food and drink, has good entertainment and encourages a safe environment
for all fans.
